Red Mist Recordings is proud to present the highly anticipated third compilation album from the label, showcasing a plethora of talented artists from around the world and for the first time an accompanying mix CD from co-owner DJ Haze.

CD1 features returning artists Stunna, Method One, soulTec, Antibreak, Solar Empire and Smote alongside Red Mist debutants Carl Matthes, Dirrrty B, Radicall, Kyro, Native, dRamatic and The Square, The Red and the Black traverses the deep drum & bass landscape effortlessly with a mix of music to serve the listener and the dancefloor in equal measure.

On CD2, long-term Bassdrive radio host DJ Haze takes you on an 18-track journey through the sound of Red Mist Recordings, with tracks selected from The Red and The Black, bonus digital exclusives from Native and Arje, and some of the cream of the label’s back catalogue including ASC, Electrosoul System, ICR, Hobzee & Zyon Base, FX909 and Furney.

BiographyLm1 is the production name of Scottish based producer Allan Cowie. Based in Edinburgh this recent Drum and Bass convert is making pleasant waves with this atmospheric Ambient & Trance influenced tunes.His story starts in 1994 when after playing with tracker programs he decided to make the leap and bought his first sampling keyboard the ensoniq asr-10.

Allan explored ambient inspired by the likes of Tangerine Dream after spending countless hours playing D&D listening to it, pioneer Jean Michelle Jarre and the then burgeoning sound of progressive house.During this time he went clubbing often attending Goa Trance night Airport and started Dj’ing in a club dropping soulful and modern sounds.

His first big break came in 1997 under the pseudonym Red Devil and was picked up by respected sheffield label Choo-choo records run by Barry Gilbey.This led to the seminal track Gamelan which featured on Sasha & Digweeds northern exposure 3. From there he had another 5 vinyl releases before deciding to have a long break from music.

In 2007 he first heard a techmospheric mix by ASC and an older Essential mix by LTJ Bukem and was captivated by the sound and wondered if he could bring his own style to Drum and Bass.

To gain experience he successfully remixed 3 of US hyrbid rock electronic group Celldwellers’ tracks in DnB style under the name Red Devil and are featured on their remix compilations.Gaining confidence this culminated in Ambient Traveller and others being picked up by ASC’s now unfortunately shuttered Covert Operations imprint.

Lm1 has now had a string of releases on Cov-ops, Levitated, Golden orb and with tracks forthcoming on vinyl on Vibez and MidnightSun, Dispatch, and Renewal to feature on Paradoxes next Age of Outsiders 3 theres no sign of letting up.With plans for his own imprint soon - Offworld Recordings life just got a lot busier.”Its been an exciting time,things have been moving fast.
